Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to submit original and unpublished manuscripts that fall within the scope of AZWA: Journal of Islamic Education. Submitted manuscripts must not be under consideration for publication in any other journal.


General Requirements

  • Manuscripts must be original, free from plagiarism, and not previously published.
  • Articles must be written in English.
  • Manuscripts should be prepared in Microsoft Word format (.DOC or .RTF).
  • Paper size: A4; single-column layout; 1.15 line spacing; font: Cambria, size 12.
  • Tables, figures, and charts must be clearly labeled and embedded within the text.

The manuscript length should range between 4,500–7,000 words, including references.


Manuscript Structure

  1. Title: Concise and informative, maximum 15 words.
  2. Author(s): Full name(s) without academic titles.
  3. Affiliation: Institutional affiliation and country.
  4. Email Address: Corresponding author’s email.
  5. Abstract: 150–250 words in one paragraph, including objectives, methods, and key findings.
  6. Keywords: 3–5 relevant terms.
  7. Introduction: Background, literature review, research gap, and objectives.
  8. Method: Research design, data sources, and analytical approach.
  9. Results and Discussion: Presentation of findings supported by analysis and relevant literature.
  10. Conclusion: Summary of key findings and scholarly contributions.
  11. References: Must follow APA Style (7th Edition). References should primarily consist of sources published within the last 10 years.

Citation Guidelines

  • In-text citations and reference lists must follow APA Style (7th Edition).
  • Quotations longer than 40 words should be formatted as block quotations.
  • Short quotations should be integrated within the text using quotation marks.
  • Qur’anic citations must include surah name, number, and verse (e.g., Qs. Al-Mu’min [40]: 43).
  • Hadith citations must mention the compiler’s name (e.g., H.R. al-Bukhari).
  • Authors are strongly encouraged to use citation management software such as Mendeley or Zotero.

Review and Publication Process

  • All submissions are screened for plagiarism prior to peer review.
  • The journal applies a double-blind peer review process.
  • Authors may be required to revise their manuscripts based on reviewer comments.
  • The final publication decision rests with the Editor.
