Publication Ethics

AZWA: Journal of Islamic Education adheres to the ethical standards established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). This publication ethics statement is intended to uphold academic integrity, scholarly honesty, and the quality of scientific publications. The following guidelines define the ethical responsibilities of authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.


1. Responsibilities of Authors

Reporting Standards: Authors must present an accurate and objective account of their research. Fabrication, falsification, or misrepresentation of data constitutes unethical behavior and is strictly prohibited.

Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that their work is entirely original. Proper acknowledgment of the work and ideas of others must always be provided. Plagiarism in any form is unacceptable. Manuscripts must not be submitted simultaneously to more than one journal.

Multiple or Redundant Publication: Authors should not publish substantially similar research in more than one journal.

Acknowledgment of Sources: All relevant sources must be properly cited.

Authorship Criteria: Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made significant contributions to the study. All co-authors must approve the final manuscript prior to submission.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial or other conflicts of interest and clearly acknowledge sources of funding.

Correction of Errors: Authors must promptly notify the editor if significant errors are discovered and cooperate in correcting or retracting the article.

Research Ethics: Research involving human participants must comply with applicable ethical standards and informed consent requirements.


2. Responsibilities of Editors

Publication Decisions: Editors determine which manuscripts are published based on scholarly merit, originality, and relevance to the journal’s focus and scope.

Fair Review: Editors ensure a fair, unbiased, and confidential double-blind peer-review process.

Confidentiality: Editors must maintain confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts.

Conflicts of Interest: Editors must avoid handling manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest.

Integrity of the Scholarly Record: Editors take appropriate action when ethical concerns arise, including issuing corrections or retractions where necessary.


3. Responsibilities of Reviewers

Confidentiality: Reviewers must treat manuscripts as confidential documents.

Objectivity: Reviews must be conducted objectively and constructively.

Acknowledgment of Sources: Reviewers should identify uncited relevant works and report similarities to existing publications.

Conflict of Interest: Reviewers must decline to review manuscripts where conflicts of interest exist.

Timeliness: Reviews should be completed within the agreed timeframe.


4. Responsibilities of the Publisher

The publisher of AZWA: Journal of Islamic Education is committed to maintaining editorial independence and supporting the highest standards of publication ethics. Allegations of misconduct will be handled transparently and in accordance with COPE guidelines.
