Reviewer Guidelines
Manuscripts submitted to AZWA: Journal of Islamic Education undergo an initial editorial screening to ensure alignment with the journal’s focus and scope, compliance with submission guidelines, and adherence to academic standards. Manuscripts that meet these criteria are evaluated through a double-blind peer review process.
Reviewers are expected to provide objective, constructive, and timely evaluations that contribute to improving the scholarly quality of submissions. The following criteria guide the review process:
1. Overall Presentation and Structure
- Is the manuscript coherent, systematic, and well-structured?
- Are arguments logically developed and clearly articulated?
- Is the manuscript relevant to the journal’s focus and scope?
2. Title and Abstract
- Is the title concise, informative, and reflective of the study?
- Does the abstract clearly state the objectives, methodology, key findings, and conclusion?
3. Introduction
- Is the research background adequately explained?
- Does the manuscript clearly identify a research gap or novelty?
- Are the research objectives or questions clearly stated?
4. Methodology
- Is the research design clearly described and appropriate?
- Are data sources, instruments, and analytical procedures sufficiently detailed?
- Is the methodology rigorous and replicable?
5. Results and Discussion
- Are findings presented clearly and systematically?
- Do tables and figures effectively support the analysis?
- Does the discussion critically engage with relevant literature?
- Are implications, limitations, and directions for future research addressed?
6. Conclusion
- Does the conclusion respond to the research objectives?
- Are the key contributions and implications clearly articulated?
- Is the conclusion concise and free from unnecessary repetition?
7. References and Citation
- Are references relevant, up-to-date, and properly formatted?
- Does the manuscript follow APA Style (7th Edition) consistently?
Review Recommendations
Based on their evaluation, reviewers may recommend one of the following decisions:
- Accept
- Minor Revision
- Major Revision
- Reject
Reviewers are encouraged to provide detailed comments and constructive suggestions to assist authors in strengthening their manuscripts. All reviews must be conducted professionally, confidentially, and in accordance with ethical standards.
